Just off Brick Lane, east London. My ancestors were from this part of London, when it was Jack The Ripper territory, and one of the poorest districts in the country. It's still fairly run-down, but has been home to Britain's trendy artists for a number of years now.

Looks like London Transport considerately decided to display a picture of a bus just in case you didn't know it was a bus stop ;-) See also The FInal Journey, here. BTW the mother and child statue on the right is outside a private maternity hospital.

I posted a shot of this advert over a year ago (here), and commented at the time that I would have liked someone to stop and check the time whilst standing in the frame. I was passing it again the other day and I spotted this woman actually standing there looking at her watch. Unfortunately by the time I'd got my camera out of the bag, she was talking on her mobile phone so I missed the shot I wanted. Anyway, I think it's a lot stronger compositionally than the previous attempt, and I like the touch of blue that the coat provides.

I seem to produce a lot of similar straight-on compositions like this, and I'm not sure if that's (a) a good thing because it means I'm subconsciously developing my own recognisable style or (b) a bad thing because it means I'm being lazy by not experimenting creatively outside my own comfort zone. I suspect it's somewhere in between but would be interested to hear your thoughts. This is in Byng Place, central London, by the way, and I've no idea why the telephone box on the far right is smaller than the other two.

I think this is kind of similar to my previous two shots, in both style and subject matter; they could almost be a set of three. This one's from a subway in Aldgate, east London.
